I am always drawn to windows as an object at once visually transparent and conceptually quite opaque.
For both their transparency and opacity, they are objects of, and for, much desire and intrigue.
Sometimes they obstruct the view and create riddles and fascination.
Sometimes they just frame to provide optimal viewing experience.
They reorganise and regulate our perceptions of reality—from both sides really.
And like canvases, they constantly reconfigure fragments of visual stimuli into a kaleidoscopic palimpsest.
My favourite window viewing, though, is the sort that quietly reveals gaps..
..in ourselves, in history, and in things taken for granted.
We look at, into, from, and through windows.
We see ourselves.
